The Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) transportation division of UPS is called UPS Freight. On August 8, 2005, UPS paid $1.25 billion to Central Pacific Corporation, the parent organization of the Union Pacific Railroad, to purchase Overnite Transportation Company (and its affiliate Motor Cargo). Overnite Transportation changed its name to UPS Ground Freight, Inc. on April 28, 2006.
